En el pin\u00e1culo de su carrera y siendo la opci\u00f3n n\u00famero uno para disputar el t\u00edtulo de peso medio, el caso no tard\u00f3 en llegar a la luz p\u00fablica y diversas personalidades empezaron a apoyar al boxeador injustamente encarcelado. Muhammad Ali, organiz\u00f3 protestas para que \u00abHurricane\u00bb tuviera otro juicio; y aunque este se realiz\u00f3 diez a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s del primero, termin\u00f3 con la misma sentencia.<\/p>\n<p>Rubin Carter clam\u00f3 siempre por su inocencia, y la historia llev\u00f3 a Bob Dylan a visitarle en la prisi\u00f3n de Rahway State en Nueva Jersey. En 1975 y como parte de su disco Desire, el compositor estadounidense estren\u00f3 la canci\u00f3n \u00abHurricane\u00bb, que narraba la noche del homicidio y la posterior condena aplicada sobre el p\u00fagil. El tema se convirti\u00f3 en uno de los singles de mayor \u00e9xito durante ese periodo al alcanzar el puesto 31 del Billboard.<\/p>\n<p>Carter nunca dej\u00f3 de ser apoyado y el 7 de noviembre de 1985, en un nuevo juicio le permitieron probar su inocencia.
