En el año 2005 el Presidente americano Bill Clinton estableció este evento de gran envergadura mundial, en el cual reúne a importantes líderes para visualizar juntos soluciones a los principales cambios y problemas mundiales.

La reunión ha encontrado a más de150 Jefes de Estado, 20 ganadores del Nobel, y cientos de ejecutivos, miembros de organizaciones no gubernamentales y medios de comunicación.

Hasta el momento, la iniciativa funciona con 2,100 comités de acción en más de 180 países.
